Quad Cities Canoe Cup Race Launches at 9:40am on Saturday August 16, 2025 at Illiniwek Forest Preserve in Hampton, Illinois
Rock Island, Illinois - The Quad Cities Canoe Cup race occurs as part of River Action's 16th Annual Floatzilla (www.floatzillaqc.org) event on Saturday August 16, 2025. Floatzilla is the largest paddling event on the Mississippi and annually brings over 1,600 paddlers to the Quad Cities in an effort to break a Giuness Book for World Records.
Participants with a hand-crafted Navarro Canoe Co. canoe, regardless of build size or era, will have the Floatzilla $65 race and registration fee paid for by Navarro Canoe Co. through August 16, 2025. Navarro Canoe Co. canoe owners can register at Navarro's website.
This event marks the company's first official gathering of Navarro canoe owners, celebrating craftsmanship, community, and river stewardship. The Navarro-X Meetup introduces the Navarro Quad Cities Cup canoe race, a dedicated competition exclusively for Navarro canoe owners. This race is integrated into Floatzilla’s new 10-mile “Dam to Dam” race on the Mississippi River, launching from Hampton's Illiniwek Forest Preserve. The all-watercraft race begins at 9:30 a.m., with the Navarro-hand-made-canoes only race commencing immediately after at 9:40 a.m.
“Navarro-X stands for ‘Experience,’ and this meetup is about more than just racing—it’s about connecting our community of paddlers who value craftsmanship and the natural beauty of our rivers,” said Jeff O'Hearn, director of manufacturing and co-owner of Navarro Canoe Co. “We’re thrilled to host our first official Navarro-X gathering at Floatzilla, the largest paddle event on the Mississippi.”
Floatzilla, organized by River Action (www.riveraction.org), is a celebrated annual event that attracts paddlers nationwide. Participants launch from eight sites across the Quad Cities, converging for a day of paddling, camaraderie, and environmental advocacy. The event supports River Action’s mission of promoting river stewardship and conservation.
The Navarro-X Meetup at Floatzilla offers Navarro owners an opportunity to showcase their canoes, engage with fellow enthusiasts, and participate in a friendly yet competitive race. The event underscores Navarro Canoe Co.'s commitment to fostering a vibrant paddling community and promoting environmental awareness.
